TOHU Melaka Program: Strengthening Riding Safety Through Defensive Riding Fundamentals
The TOHU Melaka Program, conducted on 16th October 2025 in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, brought together local riders for a focused introduction to the essentials of safe motorcycle handling and defensive riding. Led by certified instructors from MASRA Academy, the session emphasized real-world safety habits that riders can apply immediately in their daily commute.
Building the Foundation of Safe Riding
The program covered the core basics every rider should master before progressing to advanced techniques. Participants were guided through:
1. Balance & Low-Speed Control
Riders learned how proper balance contributes to stability, especially during slow-speed manoeuvres—one of the most common challenges faced by daily commuters.
2. Effective Braking Techniques
Trainers demonstrated safe braking habits, focusing on brake pressure control, stopping distance awareness, and emergency stopping fundamentals.
3. Road Awareness & Defensive Riding Mindset
Participants were introduced to the principles of defensive riding, including hazard anticipation, safe following distance, and visual scanning techniques to identify potential risks ahead of time.
These elements formed the foundation for cultivating riders who are not only skilled but also consciously aware of their surroundings.
Interactive Demonstrations for Real-Life Learning
The highlight of the session was the live riding demonstration, where MASRA trainers showcased proper bike control, safe handling, and defensive strategies in everyday scenarios.
This practical exposure helped participants understand how correct techniques translate into safer riding behaviour on actual roads.
Engaged and Motivated Participants
A total of 20 participants joined the TOHU Melaka Program, actively engaging with instructors and asking questions related to their personal riding challenges.
Their involvement reflected a strong commitment to becoming safer, more responsible riders—aligning with the program’s goal of raising safety standards within local communities.
