SD Guthrie Motorcycle Defensive Riding Training: Strengthening Rider Safety Through Defensive Riding Skills
On 22nd and 23rd October 2025, SD Guthrie at Ladang Tennamaram hosted a specialised Motorcycle Defensive Riding Training, a two-day safety initiative designed to enhance rider awareness, discipline, and technical handling skills.
The program was led by certified instructors from MASRA Academy, bringing professional training directly to the organisation’s riders.
This training placed strong emphasis on defensive riding, hazard anticipation, and safe reaction techniques — all crucial for creating a safer commuting environment and reducing on-road risks.
Program Highlights
1. Interactive Safety Talks
Participants were introduced to core principles of defensive riding, including:
- Recognising early warning signs and potential hazards
- Developing a proactive rider mindset
- Understanding common accident patterns around work sites
- Building a culture of awareness and discipline
These sessions helped participants understand the real-world importance of safety behaviour before getting on the bike.
2. Practical Defensive Riding Sessions
Under supervised training conditions, participants observed and practised essential defensive riding components such as:
- Controlled braking
- Slow-speed balance
- Cornering stability
- Emergency responses
- Safe manoeuvring methods
This hands-on segment reinforced how proper technique and early anticipation play a major role in preventing incidents on the road.

Over the two-day training, all 23 participants gained a stronger foundation in:
