Training Breakdown – 1 Day (8 Hours)
Session 1 – Understanding Motorcycle Risk & Rider Behaviour
Objective:
To develop participant awareness of motorcycle-related risks and to understand how rider behaviour and decision-making contribute to accident occurrence.
Content:
- Overview of motorcycle accident patterns in daily commuting and work-related riding
- Common rider errors and unsafe behaviours leading to accidents
- The impact of overconfidence, speed misjudgement, and late reaction
- Introduction to the defensive riding mindset and rider responsibility
Learning Outcome:
Participants will understand why motorcycle riders are vulnerable on the road and recognise how personal riding behaviour influences safety outcomes.
Method: Structured briefing, interactive discussion, real-world case examples
Session 2 – Hazard Awareness & Risk Recognition (What riders must be able to identify early)
Objective:
To equip participants with the ability to identify road hazards and high-risk situations before they develop into accidents.
Content:
- Types of riding hazards: road conditions, traffic behaviour, and environmental factors
- Identifying high-risk zones such as junctions, lane-splitting areas, and U-turns
- Early hazard detection and risk anticipation principles
- Decision-making under changing road conditions

Session 3 – Emergency Response & Defensive Riding Principles (How to respond correctly in critical situations)
Objective:
To provide participants with a clear understanding of correct responses during emergency riding situations.

- Emergency braking principles and braking dynamics
- Common mistakes during panic braking and emergency reactions
- Speed, space, and visibility management for defensive riding
- Rider positioning and control concepts for safer responses

Session 4 – Live Demonstration, Learning Reinforcement & Assessment (Reinforcement and effectiveness measurement)
Objective:
To reinforce learning through visual demonstration and to measure knowledge improvement achieved during the programme.

- Live instructor demonstration of correct braking techniques
- Demonstration of proper body positioning, balance, and control
- Comparison of correct versus incorrect riding techniques
- Pre-training and post-training assessment to evaluate learning improvement

- Promote proper motorcycle handling and basic technical safety understanding
- Support organisations in reducing motorcycle accident risk and injury exposure through competency-based training
Training Breakdown – Day 1 (8 Hours)
Session 1 – Understanding Motorcycle Risk & Rider Behaviour
Purpose:
To build awareness of why motorcycle riders are vulnerable and how rider behaviour contributes to accidents.
Content:
- Motorcycle accident patterns in commuting and work-related riding
- Human factors in accidents: overconfidence, speed misjudgement, late reaction
- Rider responsibility and defensive riding mindset
- Relationship between behaviour, risk, and injury severity

Participants understand why accidents happen and how rider behaviour influences safety outcomes.

Session 2 – Hazard Awareness & Risk Recognition
Purpose:
To train participants to identify hazards early before they become accidents.

Participants gain confidence and understanding of correct emergency response behaviour.

Session 4 – Live Demonstration & Learning Reinforcement
Purpose:
To visually reinforce correct and incorrect riding techniques.
Content:
- Instructor demonstration of braking techniques
- Demonstration of correct riding posture and balance
- Comparison of correct vs incorrect riding behaviour
- Pre-training assessment and learning review
Outcome:
- Participants reinforce learning through observation and clearer understanding of safe riding practices.
Method : Live instructor demonstration, facilitated discussion, short knowledge check.
Training Breakdown – Day 2 (8 Hours)
Session 5 – Technical Motorcycle Knowledge & Safety Fundamentals (Morning)
Purpose:
To ensure participants understand the motorcycle as a critical safety system before riding.
Content:
- Motorcycle safety overview and familiarisation
- Braking systems:
- Front and rear brake function
- Motorcycle basics and braking limitations
- Tyre fundamentals:
- Tyre types and characteristics
- Tyre condition and wear indicators
- Correct tyre pressure and its effect on grip and braking
- Relationship between motorcycle condition and accident risk
- Q&A on participants’ motorcycle-related issues
Outcome:
Participants understand how motorcycle technical condition directly affects safety and accident prevention.
Method: Classroom/toolbox briefing, show-and-tell on training motorcycles, guided Q&A.
Session 6 – Motorcycle Handling & Body Positioning Control (Morning)
Purpose:
To develop proper motorcycle control through correct handling and body positioning.
Content:
- Introduction to motorcycle handling principles
- Body positioning concepts:
- Lean with the bike
- Lean in
- Lean out
- Relationship between body position, balance, traction, and control
- Practical handling exercises to improve stability and confidence
Outcome:
Participants demonstrate improved control, balance, and confidence through correct body positioning techniques.
Method: Instructor demonstration, coached drills, progressive practice with individual feedback.
Session 7 – Braking & Emergency Braking Practical (Afternoon)
Purpose:
To apply correct braking techniques under controlled practical conditions.
Content:
- Progressive braking exercises
- Emergency braking drills
- Correct braking posture and hand positioning
- Managing panic response and reaction timing
- Understanding stopping distance and braking limits
Outcome:
Participants demonstrate safer and more controlled braking behaviour during emergency situations.
Method: Demonstration → supervised practice → repetition drills → instructor observation and corrective coaching.
Session 8 – Hazard Avoidance & Defensive Riding Application (Afternoon)
Purpose:
To apply defensive riding strategies for avoiding hazards in real-world scenarios.
Content:
- Hazard avoidance techniques
- Visual scanning and situational awareness
- Obstacle avoidance exercises
- Decision-making under pressure
- Integrating defensive riding principles from Day 1 and Day 2
Outcome:
Participants demonstrate improved hazard response, safer decision-making, and defensive riding behaviour.
Method: Scenario-based practical drills, coached practice, observation checklist, debrief + Q&A.
